the dadaists, which duchamp fit more into than surrealism thought that art is dead and Duchamp's ideas reflected his dissent with the world war. This is literally a bottlerack, one of Duchamp's "readymades" It is supposed to challenge the idea of "what is art?" and enfuriate critics.It was supposed to get people thinking. Dadaism failed as a movement when it came in danger of being accepted.
