Man Ray and his 'ready mades' by Thomas on 2005-11-06
The Gift by Man Ray is one of the 'Ready Mades' series belonging to the Dada art movement in New York. The idea behind such works was to question what art was, could an everyday object placed inside an art gallery then be called art. This piece is not one of the best however, it lacks the wit of other 'ready mades' such as 'Fountain' by Marcel Duchamp. To rate it... lame.
